There are things in your life that touch your heart and you will carry with you forever. We had to say farewell to one of those specials things yesterday, our sweet black lab Abby. Adrian brought Abby home in a shoe box in the Fall of his Junior year of college. She was his instant companion and best friend. Together they lived in 5 different houses, she was with him when he graduated college, got his first job, and met his future wife :). She was here when we got married, was my constant companion during my pregnancy and welcomed our precious Molly with open paws. You could not ask for a better dog. Smart, happy, loving, and lazy! Abby loved her naps and took plenty for all of us. She loved going on family walks, riding in the car with her head out the window, begging for pizza crust and chicken nuggets, but most of all she loved us.
She was 12 years old and had been battling cancerous tumors for the past couple of years. She was becoming more and more uncomfortable and was experiencing some pain. Although she was hurting she did her best to not let us know, she would have spurts of energy and we would see our puppy appear again! She always had a smile on her face... Yesterday was tough, one of the hardest days we've experienced since we met. It was the most difficult decisions Adrian and I have ever made, but we knew that it was best for her.
Our house is extremely empty, we miss the sound of her claws tapping on the wood floors and the big sigh she would let out as she relaxed in for one of her long naps. I miss hearing her bark and oddly enough I miss seeing her black hair gathered in the corner of the woodwork. Molly keeps asking for "Abs," she misses her buddy. We were so lucky to have been blessed with such an amazing dog, we love you Abby Jetta and will miss you so much. Thank you for loving us...
Here she is lounging by the pool with her cousin Luke Pawelka
